100 Years of Fashion

To celebrate the opening of Westfield in Stratford, this fun short film shows fashion in London over the past 100 years, the shopping centre will be the largest urban shopping centre in Europe, but I'm more excited about the fashion over the years, the dancings pretty cute too!
I've found my Halloween Outfit Inspiration! (too early?!)

Pretty Pieces

I probably own more rings than fingers, but I have 5 rings that I always wear. The newest of these was gifted to me for my 21st birthday and has received numerous compliments and queries of where people can get one.
So let me introduce you to the world of Alex Monroe Jewellery. Alex is an English jewellery designer, he's a celebrity favourite with Sienna Miller, Emma Watson, Carey Mulligan, Emilia Fox, Thandie Newton, Lisa Snowdon and Jo Whiley to name a few famous names that have bought and worn his designs. Vogue can’t sing his praises enough and he's just collaborated with Liberty of London who now along with 100 other boutiques stock his designs. Nature is his biggest inspiration and all of his collections are beautifully named, reflections on the pieces themselves. Daisy Bell, Lucky Clover, Feather and Flower Burst to name a few of his many collections, check them out at http://www.alexmonroe.com/

Another jewellery favourite of mine is Monica Vinader, her Fiji friendship bracelets have been an obsession of mine for sometime now, I'm yet to make a purchase because I can't decide on which colour! Water, Water, Everywhere...

Dirty Sexy Things

The latest offering, "Dirty Sexy Things" from Channel 4 has caught my eye, showing the crazy fashion world through the eye of the models, as they take on wild, wacky photo shoots and push creative boundaries with world renowned photographer Perou. At first I brushed it off as another typical "some scenes are created for your enjoyment" fake documentary and although some of the "drama" is slightly predictable, there’s no doubting the end results, the photographs are beautiful. Largely down to Perou's ideas and his ability to whisk the models off to the most unique of locations and come up with quirky ideas.
The finale was broadcast tonight, showcasing the best photos from the past eight weeks. The end results are pretty amazing, take a look and let me know what you think. Here are a few of my favourites....

My Personal Favourite ( I have a thing for underwater shoots at the minute)

Winter Wear

The little British Summer we did have is reaching an end, meaning my favourite (fashion) time of year is here, Elle's September Edition is out along with the catwalk and high street round up, meaning an afternoon pouring over my favourite magazine, while drooling over new fashion is a must. That and contacting my bank manager, to let him know the damage that will be caused by the A/W11 wardrobe I want need.

Fashion is a means of expression, an extension of your personality, and I've always thought its not something to take too seriously. I love how one day I'm ultra feminine and girly, whereas the next day I cant get enough of skulls, studs and leather, getting ready for a day is just another dressing up session.
Which is why I love this A/W11 Collections, Fetish, Feminine 40's, Swinging 60's and Dreamy 70's are all inspirations for the designers collections. Meaning the dressing up box has got even bigger!

As much as I would love to buy everything my fashion bible deems lust worthy, I have sadly a students budget, so I've picked out key purchases to mix into my already heaving wardrobe.....

A Winter Coat
The must have winter wardrobe staple, and with our lovely British weather, its a good investment! I'm loving Burberry's array of amazing coats particularly....

I love the fur coat, but I'm think I'm going to invest in a detachable fur (faux) collar to add to my leather jacket and Mac, then invest in a high street winter coat or maybe a parka.... (Coats by Prada, Mulberry)

Highstreet Versions (French Connection, River Island, Aqua)

Jumpers
I am in desperate need of jumpers for winter, Aran and Cable Knit styles are my favourite at the moment, I'm loving the chunky knits with long flowing maxi skirts, or tiny shorts and tough boots for winter, case in point Mulberry and Tweny8Tweleve....

Highstreet versions I'll be buying, Asos.com Aran Jumper avaialbe in an array of colours and River Islands Boxy Aran Jumper. I'll also be investing in some fairisle knit print closer to christmas, always makes me feel christmasy and you can't go wrong with a classic!

Also loving capes and wraps, I recently purchased a grey knit cape from French Connection, which I'll be wearing with leggings tucked in boots for casual everyday chic.

Boots and Shoes
I NEED to buy a pair of flat boots for this winter season, I wore my last pair to death last Autumn but I'm also loving chunky ankle boots, shoe boots for nights out and loafers for every day.

(Ankle Boots KG, Knee Hight Boots Aldo, Loafer Aldo)

Skirts
I plan to live mostly in skirts this winter; short leather ones with tights and knee high socks and loafers, pleated midi skirts, channeling my inner mad men siren and flowing maxi skirts with chunky knits. So many looks means I'll just have to buy more skirts...

(Leather skirt H&M, Pink Chiffon Skirt H&M, Camel Pleat Skirt Missguided.com)

I can't wait now for the weather to finally make up its mind so its exceptable to wrap up in a nice chunky knit! Roll on AW11.... Nora x

A cupcake a day keeps the doctor away...

On my way to work today, I was pleasantly surprised by a food market temporarily popping up, having little to zero will power, were cupcakes are concerned I had to, of course, buy a cupcake, the fact it was 9 in the morning was irrelevant. I don't care what anyone says, a cupcake really is the best breakfast.

These are a few of my Favourite Things...

So I figure its best to start with what you know! So here are a few of my Obbsessions, Likes & Loves <3

Fashion:

From designer to the more affordable highstreet, I heart fashion. Chanel, YSL, Mulberry, Burberry, Alexander Mcqueen, Chloe, Christian Louboutin, Alexander Wang, Zara, H&M, Balmain, Bottega Venetta, Chloe, Topshop, DKNY, Elizabeth and James, Moschino, Vintage, French Connection, ASOS to name a few lust worthy names that will be making regular appearances on this blog.

Bows:
The bigger the better! Add in Chanel earrings... Bliss!

This was my inspiration for my fasinator for The Ladies Day Races at York I recently went to... minus the Chanel Earrings, donations will be appreciated!

Cupcakes
Many a diets have been dashed by my uncontrollable love for cupcakes, when I worked in London I sampled many a cakes from Hummingbird Bakery's, Lolas Cupcakes and Candy Cakes, however now I'm back home my latest port of call is Off The Cuff Cakes, a local lady, Sarah, who in her spare time is a very talented baker. My personal favourite of all her (many) creations is this Mad Hatters Tea Party Themed Giant Cupcake.

Follow her on facebook for more amazing baking delights

However I am slightly biased by saying her best creation is my 21st birthday cake, a tower of cupcakes and one giant cupcake, my dream cake!

Skulls
Alexander Mcqueen (R.I.P) you design god are the reason this usual girly girl has a love for anything covered in skulls, I'm the proud owner of two of his iconic skull scarfs (generous friends & Boyfriend) that kick started the love. This has now extended to jewellery and most recently household decorations, care of my amazing boyfriends birthday present to me. The D.L & Co Skull Candle in pink, nothing short of amazing...

My current favourite skull shaped object... Skull Sushi In the words of the great Rachel Zoe, "BANANAS"

Flowers
There is nothing better than receiving flowers, I've only been lucky enough to be gifted with flowers a handful of times, but for those who may wish to send in the future, stick with either Gerberas, Tulips, Orchids, white or light pink Roses and you'll have a happy Nora on your hands, failing that CUPCAKES! ;)

Just a small preview of things to come, stay tuned.

A cartoon version of myself... gotta love a bit of wishful thinking :)

Well Hey There...

Welcome to my sparkling new blog, I've finally joined the world of blogging, after reading a million different blogs on fashion, baking, interior design and all the things in between, I figured I'd start my own on all of the above!

First and foremost my alliance lies with fashion, my first love stemmed from dressing up as a child and watching my mother get ready to go out in fabulous dresses. Fashion is a part of everything I do, I'm currently studying BSc International Fashion Marketing and choosing my outfit is often my favourite part of my day.

However earning the name "Little Miss Cupcake" means I've put in serious time, obsessing over cupcakes and baking, so my blog no doubt will feature actual food for thought, as well as the latest on my favourite women in the fashion biz, Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen,  (I want your life!)  and Victoria Beckham to name a few. With a few cute quotes, beautiful photos and inspirational ideas thrown in for good measure!

Hopefully you'll find a the odd thing you love,

Nora x
