Washi Tape Obsessive

We are desperately saving for a house of our own at the moment as the wedding kind of went over budget and cleared out our savings (oops!) At the moment we are living in a gorgeous rented house which I totally love but I don't see why just because we are renting we shouldn't put our own stamp on it. We moved in just before the wedding and have spent time buying key pieces and creating rooms we love that will work in our next house - when we get round to buying it!

The last room we've not really done anything with was our spare room which Brett was using as an office. A new job meant this room was now redundant and it sparked my creative juices to create a focal wall for my new dressing room. Enter Washi tape! This stuff is genius, cheap, available in pretty much any colour or pattern and the best bit it can be stuck onto a wall and taken off without damaging the wall - perfect for renters like us!

I bought my tape from Ikea but Etsy, Paperchase & Ebay all sell a great selection, I collected a few of my favourite photos, momentums and printed some of my favourite Pinterest quotes & pictures and got creative. My favourite has to be the double bordered picture but the options are endless and when I get bored or have new photos I can just switch it up!

The Wedding Diaries: The Dress, the shoes & the rest!

All photographs from Perfect Circle Photography, our incredible wedding photographer Adam.

Where else would I start the wedding diaries than the dress!

Everything they say is true - as soon as you try it on you just know! I had an image in my head of a mermaid all lace dress with sleeves and other than mermaid style I ended up with something completely different! My dress was so mean't to be I booked an appointment at a local boutique to try  on a different dress and mine was in the window and I fell in love straight away. It was on loan from the designer for the weekend and if I'd of booked any other date I'd never of seen it! I paid the deposit then and there and the Maggie Sottero Divina dress in Ivory was all mine!

My shoes were a tricky one, I knew I wanted to treat myself to a designer pair but all the ones I tried on were so high I knew I wouldn't make it through the ceremony without them killing me and I'd tower over Brett the whole day. As soon as I saw the Vivenne Westwood Lady Dragon shoes I fell in love. They are part of the Melissa collaboration so made of comfy jell like material and only had a small heel making them perfect! Breaking your heels in before the big day is no joke though - I still ended up dancing the night away in flats!

My veil was one of my favourite things, I had always dreamt of getting married in lace so when my perfect dress had non on I knew my veil had to! The church we got married in was huge so I knew I could go big on the length and I wanted it to be long enough to cover my train and boy was it long! 13ft long to be precise! Hey you only get married once, go hard or go home! It was a complete bargain find from Etsy I can't recommend the seller enough if your looking for a veil and don't want to pay the earth!

My jewellery was one of the biggest surprises on the day. I bought a simple tennis bracelet and diamond studs in the run up to the wedding as given how dramatic my dress was I wasn't planning on wearing any other jewellery. Until my parents surprised me with the most beautiful necklace and earring set they had made which matched my yellow diamond engagement ring just before the ceremony! How could I not wear them?!

I finished my look with a spritz of Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede perfume which is my all time favourite smell and I was ready to tie the knot!

Coming up next.... The wedding party, gifts, flowers, stationary & cake!

At Home Gel Nails

Anyone that follows me knows I am a big nail lover, spending an afternoon of pampering getting my nails done is one of my favourite things to do. I've recently switched from getting acrylic nails to shellac as I've finally stopped bitting my nails and my nails are no longer stubs!

Those of you who have tried both will know that shellac does not stay perfect as long as a nail colour on acrylic. Which is why I've been on the hunt for an at home solution.
I've tried most of the Gel alternatives like Barry M Gelly Nails but the drying time and how quickly they chipped left me unimpressed until I tried Revlon's latest offering! The colour stay gel envy is so easy to use. One coat of the colour then a coat of the diamond coat and voila! Shiny nails!

As its a new collection from Revlon theres currently only 8 colours and I only really like the bight coral "pocket aces" I've discovered that if you apply the diamond top coat as a base coat, then any other nail varnish colour and the diamond top coat again. You can you any colour for a Gel manicure - the drying time was the only thing letting it down so I invested in the Quick Dry Top Coat and now I can have Gel nails in any colour at home!

They are currently 2 for £8 in Boots - you can thank me later!
